KLPGA: Vietnam Hosts 2018 Season Opener
It’s been a long season on the KLPGA Tour, with 30 regular tournaments played since March. And now, just 3 weeks after the 2017 season ended, 2018 begins early for most of the Tour players!
The inaugural 3 day Hyousung Championship will take place just outside Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam. It’s wayyyy to cold for Korea to host an event until next March! And this tournament will be the final event until then, yet it will be counted towards next seasons stats and rankings – taking a leaf out of the PGA Tour scheduling…
The $650,000 (approx USD) will feature many of the top Korean ladies, who will be pretty happy to get back to play golf in the lovely warm weather! Player of the Year, Jeong Eun Lee, will sit this one out, but the likes of Ji Hyun Kim, Hye Jin Choi, Hye Sun Kim, Seon Woo Bae, Ji Hyun Oh, Min Sun Kim, Su Yeon Jang and Ha Na Jang are all making the trip, with one goal in mind- to win the inaugural historic event.
So after this week, professional golf in or associated with the Korean and Japanese Tours will go into hibernation, but just for a few weeks…
